The design and operation of a multidimensional photorefractive correla
tor is described. With a photorefractive medium as the integrator, thi
s system effects the correlation of up to four time-evolving signals.
The holographic correlation volume is viewed by projection onto a two-
dimensional detector. The correlator is designed for use with binary-p
hase signals, especially pseudorandom noise sequences. (C) 1997 optica
