Abstract
In CHOm(3) cells and rat cerebral cortex slices, epi-inositol was less potent but as effective as myo-inositol in reversing carbachol/lithiu m-stimulated CMP-PA accumulation whereas L-chiro-and scyllo-inositol w ere less active or inactive. These results with the four inositol isom ers in two tissues correlate exactly with their effects on lithium-pil ocarpine induced seizures and suggest a common mechanism of action for biochemical and behavioural effects.
