Modern telediagnostic technology offers new opportunities for state-or
iented maintenance, even in large drives in cement works. Flender-ESAT
: which operates as the ''Engineering & Service'' sector of the compan
y in the Flender company group, is a pioneer in worldwide telediagnost
ic services. The ESAT InterMAC telediagnostic and monitoring system co
mbines practical experience and a knowledge of drive technology and me
chanical diagnosis with modem measuring, computer and communications t
echnology. This telediagnostic system can also be retrofitted to exist
ing drives. The examples of a drive for a roller grinding mill and a d
rive for a tube mill are used to show how, after installation of the t
elediagnostic technology and without any expensive travelling, the dia
gnostic and drive specialists from a competent service company can car
ry out remote diagnosis of the plant. By way of example, explanations
are also given of the informative content of procedures and parameters
which are relevant to the diagnosis. The services provided by Flender
