There have been only a few reports in the literature of lymphoma patie
nts suffering from digital gangrene. The present case, a 40-year-old m
an with adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) showed marked edematous
and dyshidrosis-like changes of the digital fingers. As a result uf th
ese changes, most of the fingertips of this patient were affected by g
angrene. Histologically, lesions showed organized thrombi occluding ve
ins in thr middle dermis. In patients suffering from malignant lymphom
a, digital swelling and pain associated with cyanosis should receive c
areful attention because of the possibility of digital gangrene. To ou
r knowledge, this report is on the first ATLL case in the literature p
resenting with digital gangrene associated with occlusive thrombi.
