Abstract
The influence of the spinodal decomposition in a Cu-Ni-Fe alloy on the microstructure and on the mechanical behaviour has been investigated by TEM and hardness measurements as well as by measurements of the yie ld strength. A correlation between the early stages of decomposition, defined by TEM investigations, and the yield strength has been found. By means of a model, based on thermal activation, the amount of hardne ss can be predicted for different times and temperatures.
