The constitution of a total of 42 binary, ternary and quaternary alloy
s with compositions around those of the intermetallic compounds Ni-3(A
l,Si,Ti), (Ni,Co)(3)(Al,Ti) and (Ni,Co)(3)(Si,Ti) has been studied in
the temperature range 973 to 1393 K. The object of this investigation
was to find alloy systems in which fine, spherical, homogeneously dist
ributed, disordered f.c.c. particles can be precipitated in an Ll(2)-l
ong-range ordered matrix. Such alloys are suitable model systems for i
nvestigating precipitation hardening and precipitation toughening of L
l(2)-ordered intermetallic compounds. Two well suited alloys are: Ni69
CO9Al18Ti4 and Ni58CO20Si10Ti12.
