EXTENSION OF THE MAGNIER ET-AL CATALOG OF OBJECTS IN THE FIELD OF M31

The BVRI catalogue of Magnier et al. (1992) contains 61,281 objects wi thin a approximately 1 square degree region centered on the core of M3 1. We have performed deep BVI CCD photometry on approximately 0.7 squa re degrees of the outer regions to extend the coverage to the entire d isk of M31. Data from the two sets of observations were merged into on e photometric system, and absolute calibration to the Johnson system w as performed. The extended catalogue contains 485,425 objects with typ ical completeness limits of BVRI = (20.7, 21.7, 20.2, 20.5). Photometr ic and astrometric accuracies are approximately 4% at V = 19.5, and ap proximately 0.8'', respectively.
