Two (methoxymethyl)melamine resins of industrial and commercial intere
st have been analysed by means of high performance liquid chromatograp
hy (HPLC)/electrospray ionization ion trap mass spectrometry in order
to identify the components of the complex mixtures which are produced
by melamine resin manufacturing procedures. The approach provided a si
mple but highly valuable analytical tool, able to yield data on molecu
lar weight and chemical structure of the components separated by HPLC.
