Av. Kudryashov et al., LIQUID-CRYSTAL PHASE MODULATOR FOR ADAPTIVE OPTICS - TEMPORAL PERFORMANCE CHARACTERIZATION, Optics communications, 141(5-6), 1997, pp. 247-253
The study of the temporal performance of a nematic liquid crystal phas
e modulator with 69 phase retardance cells is presented. The change of
Strehl ratio for defocus under static and dynamic conditions is discu
ssed. It is observed that the rate of arbitrary phase modulation is li
mited to about 1.7 Hz with this device. Finally, suggestions for impro
ving the bandwidth are given. (C) 1997 Published by Elsevier Science B
