Abstract
A facile and novel 4-hydroxy-delta-lactone synthesis is described. 2-S ubstituted 3-hydroxy-5-tri(butyl)stannylpentanoic acids were treated w ith lead tetraacetate (LTA) for 5 minutes to give 4-hydroxy-delta-lact ones in good yields.
