Abstract
The present study provides evidence that interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-8 a re the main endogenous mediators of acute phase response in patients w ith myocardial infarction. This conclusion was supported by the observ ation of a strict relation between IL-6 elevation and the extent of my ocardial tissue damage and rise in body temperature.
