Cg. Stephanis et al., THE PROCESS (MECHANISM) OF EROSION OF SOLUBLE BRITTLE MATERIALS CAUSED BY CAVITATION, Ultrasonics sonochemistry, 4(3), 1997, pp. 269-271
This research determines which of the phenomena that appear during cav
itation are responsible for the erosion of some brittle water soluble
materials, such as gypsum and alum, when exposed to a high intensity u
ltrasound field over the cavitation level. The observation that gypsum
suffers no erosion under the effect of an ultrasound field when the m
aterial is irradiated in a saturated solution of gypsum in water initi
ated the idea of performing this experiment. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science
