An electrodeposition technique was developed for fabricating bioactive
hydroxyapatite (HA) coating on Ti-6Al-4V alloy at relative low temper
ature, XRD, SEM and ICP/AES were used to characterize the structure, m
orphology and chemical composition of the coatings, The galvanostatic
electrodeposted HA coating is of 1.62 Ca/P molar ratio and has a unifo
rm and porous structure, which is similar with the structure and compo
sition of human bone, The reaction mechanism and influence of experime
ntal conditions on HA coatings are also discussed.
