Heat transfer and pressure drop on the shell-side of tube bands having
elliptic tubes have been experimentally investigated. The effects of
arrangements of tubes on heat transfer coefficients and pressure drop
were discussed. The experimental results show that the mean Nusselt nu
mber of in-line tube bands with elliptic tubes is slightly lower than
those of staggered elliptic tube bands or circular tube banks while th
e resistance of the former is muchless than those of the latters.
