Abstract
Splitting of autowaves was observed in a two-dimensional photosensitiv e Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction medium after a short, high-intensity i nhibitory light pulse. These results, apparently contradicting the sta ndard properties of autowaves, are explained within the context of rea ction-diffusion equations.
