Abstract
The reaction between Ti(OiPr)(4) and [Pb(NtBu)(2)SiMe2] (1) in refluxi ng THF afforded the complex Ti(OiPr)(4)[OPb4(NtBu)(3)] (2) which has b een characterized by X-ray diffraction studies and by H-1- and C-13-NM R spectroscopy. Titanium is five coordinate and it displays a trigonal bipyramidal stereochemistry with the Pb-4(tBuN)(3)O cage ligand bonde d to titanium through the oxygen atom and occupying an apical position . The origin of the cubane lead ligand is discussed.
