Fe/Pt multilayers with varying thicknesses of Fe and Pt layers were pr
epared by RF diode sputtering and their magnetic properties in the ran
ge 5-295 K were studied. Conversion electron Mossbauer spectra were al
so taken at 295 K. From the analysis of the magnetization dependence o
n Fe layer thickness, the polarization induced moment of Pt atoms is e
stimated to be 0.5 mu(B) at 5 K. The interlayer coupling remains ferro
magnetic independent of the Pt layer thickness. Interdiffusion at the
interface is evidenced by the distribution in hyperfine fields.
