Y. Uchiyama et al., THE EFFECTS OF NINJINYOEITO ON CULTURED VENOUS ENDOTHELIAL-CELLS, The American journal of Chinese medicine, 25(2), 1997, pp. 197-204
The effects of Ninjinyoeito on endothelial cells in human umbilical ve
ins was examined. We found that Ninjinyoeito accelerates the inhibitio
n and decomposition of Endothelin-1 production, which is known to cons
trict veins and raise blood pressure, and promote the synthesis of nit
ric oxicide which is known to have a vasophypotonic effect. We also fo
und that Ninjinyoeito accelerates Interleukin 1 beta (IL-1 beta) produ
ction. IL-1 beta is a substance that plays important roles in maintain
ing the homeostasis of living organisms in immunity and inflammation,
for example, as well as in the production of tissue plasminogen activa
tors, which are known to have an anti-thrombotic effect on blood coagu
lation and on the fibrinolysis mechanism. Thus, it is suggested that N
injinyoeito is effective in accelerating the physiological functions o
f human vein endothelial cells in vitro.
