Abstract
Comparative analysis of nucleotide sequences of the 5'-terminal large domain of the small subunit rRNA allowed evaluation of the phylogeneti c relatedness of Prorhynchus and Geocentrophora genera (fam. Prorhynch idae), Among 12 species of prorhynchids studied, seven different rRNA genotypes were detected. In addition to the phylogenetic tree with opt imal topology, five suboptimal trees were not statistically rejected b y the bootstrap analysis. The data obtained were correlated with the r esults of morphological analysis of the group under study.
