Abstract
Diorites previously attributed to an early stage of the ''brasiliano'' plutonic evolution of the Serido belt yielded U-Pb zircon age of 579 +/- 7 Ma. The age of associated granites is slightly younger although a synchronous emplacement of granites and diorites is suggested by fie ld relationships. Such an age difference may result from difficulties to distinguish 'crystallization age' from 'emplacement age'', which is still to be determined precisely.
