The Sambre-et-Meuse Band comprises Ordovician and Silurian strata with
a low degree of evolution (absence of slaty cleavage, a mean reflecta
nce -Ro- values of the dispersed organic matter), except in the three
localities: Ombret, Oxhe and the southern part of the ''Pointe de Puag
ne''. The reflectance values along a meridian line through Puagne, all
ow the accurate location of several thrust faults and postulate a low
sedimentation during the Lochkovian on the Sambre-et-Meuse. The origin
of the reworked acritarchs in the Lower Devonian is reconsidered.
