CONDORCETS-PARADOX UNDER THE MAXIMAL CULTURE CONDITION

Under the Maximal Culture condition, voter preference profiles are gen erated in the following way: a positive integer L is specified and, fo r each of the possible linear orders on the alternatives, the associat ed number of voters is selected from a uniformly random distribution o ver {0, 1, 2,..., L}. In this note, we provide an analytical represent ation for the probability of Condorcet's paradox in three-alternative elections under the Maximal Culture condition. (C) 1997 Elsevier Scien ce S.A.
