Neutron low-index thin-film waveguides and waveguide coupler with anti
resonant high-reflection layers are proposed and realized experimental
ly. In contrast to the conventional thin-film waveguides, neutrons are
confined in a region with a refractive index lower than those of the
neighboring media. As shown, the in/out coupling of resonant modes is
realized by the conventional neutron-reflectometry technique. Original
numerical methods are used to evaluate the eigenstates.
