Abstract
This paper presents an advanced mathematical tool for the analysis of power system disturbances. Disturbances that are non periodic require a more powerful mathematical technique than the Fourier series. The '' Wavelet Transformation'' is one such tool that can be used. The Wavele t transform translate the time-domain function into a representation l ocalized not only in frequency but also in time. In this paper, the th eory is applied to model several short term events like a capacitor sw itching transient, an autoreclosure, and a voltage dip.
