Specific features of a new process for preparing spherical granules of
active alumina are considered. The process was developed on the basis
of a detailed study of physicochemical properties of products of fast
dehydration of aluminum trihydroxide. Characteristics of the environm
entally clean technology developed for the first time in Russia for pr
oduction of spherical alumina catalyst for the Claus process are discu
ssed.
