Rc. Samui et P. Bandopadhyay, EFFECT OF SOURCE LEVEL AND METHOD OF APPLICATION OF SULFUR ON INDIAN MUSTARD (BRASSICA-JUNCEA), Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 67(8), 1997, pp. 305-307
Application of sulphur through gypsum significantly increased the seed
yield, oil yield and number of siliquae/plant in indian mustard [Bras
sica juncea (L.) Czernj. & Cosson] compared with pyrite. An increase i
n S level significantly increased the seed yield, oil yield and number
of siliquae/plant. The 1 000-seed weight and oil content were increas
ed compared with the control but there was no significant difference i
n yield between 25 and 50 kg S/ha. The method of S application had no
significant influence on yield but its application at sowing significa
ntly increased the number of siliquae/plant. Dry-forage yield of subse
quent cowpea. [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp.] crop was not influenced b
y the source, level and method of S application.
