Abstract
Observations indicate that illuminating NaCl crystals by ultraviolet l ight (lambda = 350 nm) suppresses the magnetoplastic effect. The proce sses induced by illumination take place in a subsystem of point defect s and are related to a change in the state of magnetically sensitive d islocation pinning sites.
