A NEW SELF-RATING QUESTIONNAIRE IN SWEDISH FOR MEASURING EXPRESSED EMOTION

In this article we present a new self-rating questionnaire, ''Fragor o m familjemedlemmar'' (FOF) in Swedish for measuring expressed emotion. The aim of this instrument is to investigate a dyadic relation. The d ifferent scales are perceived criticism, perceived emotional involveme nt, critical comments, and emotional overinvolvement. We have found th at the questionnaire has acceptable reliability and validity. The diff erent subscales show significant differences between clinical and non- clinical groups. The predictive validity has been studied both in a gr oup of adolescents with psychotic disorders and in a child guidance cl inic group and has shown positive results. The preliminary results sho w that this questionnaire can be an alternative if you are interested in measuring relations in dyads and especially if you are interested i n the concept of expressed emotion.
