Abstract
Agency is useful to people not so much for controlling a site of autho rship or authority as for ambiguating social relationships and authori ty. Both indigenous and anthropological practices of ambiguation are c ritical sites of discourse that allow the gaps and ruptures between ep istemologies the possibility of positive value.
