Transfer characteristics of polymethacrlylate Langmuir films with vari
ous side chains have been investigated at different values of transfer
surface pressure. Surface pressure-area (pi-A) isotherms and surface
potentials of polymethacrylate with various side chains were measured
and apparent dipole moments of these Langmuir films at the air-water i
nterface were calculated by using pi-A isotherms and surface potential
s measured. Transfer characteristics of polymethacrylate Langmuir film
s with different side chains were discussed in terms of the interactio
ns between the films and the subphase and also the internal cohesions
of polymethacrylate monolayers.
