Abstract
Relationships between the ordered crystal structures and dislocations that control the plastic deformation of intermetallics are briefly dis cussed. An emphasises is put on those aspects of high temperature defo rmation which can be considered as general for the ordered structures on both fee and bcc cubic lattices. In particular, the indications tha t demonstrate an important role of non-conservative processes with res pect to traditionally considered dislocation glide are discussed.
