Abstract
Systemized results on the influence of the superconducting transition upon the macroscopic low temperature jump-like deformation are present ed for a number of pure metals and alloys. In all cases qualitatively similar results were observed-in the superconducting state the jump-li ke deformation is either absent or underdeveloped as compared to the n ormal state. This finding is discussed in terms of current concepts of the nature of low temperature instability. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
