Abstract
For the patient with advanced pulmonary disease who has not reached re tirement age, the ability to work and support self and family may be l ost because of limitations imposed by the disease. Ln addition to trea ting the disease and minimizing its complications, physicians can help their patients by providing objective medical documentation required to apply for disability benefits to which the patient is legally entit led.
