Abstract
Market samples of groundnut cake contaminated upto 700 ppb alfatoxin B -1 was mixed with urea, urease source and formaldehyde and heated to 5 0 degrees C for 3h followed by 121 degrees C for 30 min. The process w as effective for detoxification of anatoxin B-1 to more than 90% effic iency. The resulting product showed no toxicity, typical of aflatoxins in albino rats.
