Abstract
The initial mass of entrained water and the subsequent LB film drying characteristics, modelled using an equation based on Fick's Law of dif fusion, have been related directly to the M(2+) cation species and deg ree of incorporation into the film where it has been found that two di fferent rates of diffusion through the outer LB layer must be consider ed.
