Abstract
In recent years, the need for a low-frequency acoustic source for ocea
nic observation and long-distance propagation in the sea has been incr
easing. Generally, the attenuation loss of low frequency acoustic wave
s in water is very low compared to that of electromagnetic waves. Ther
efore, the low-frequency acoustic wave is an attractive option for rem
ote sensing, communications, and sonar in the ocean. Accordingly, from
among various types of sound sources, a cylindrical resonator-type so
und source was focused on because this type of transducer has the meri
ts of being simple in terms of structure and employable in deep-sea ar
eas. Also, the development of a cylindrical resonator-type sound sourc
e with low Q, which is the acoustic quality factor, was attempted.
