Dc. Walsh et Jit. Stenhouse, CLOGGING OF AN ELECTRICALLY ACTIVE FIBROUS FILTER MATERIAL - EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS AND 2-DIMENSIONAL SIMULATIONS, Powder technology, 93(1), 1997, pp. 63-75
An experimental study has been undertaken in which the loading behavio
ur of an electrically active fibrous filter material has been investig
ated. In these experiments both filter pressure drop and penetration h
ave been monitored continuously while samples of filter material have
been loaded with monodisperse stearic acid particles. This paper conce
rns itself only with the pressure drop data. The experimental findings
suggest that electrically active materials should have greater dust h
olding capacities than conventional materials, and a mechanistic expla
nation as to why this should be is presented. This mechanistic explana
tion is supported by two-dimensional simulations of dendrite formation
.
