Nickel(II) and cobalt(II) complexes of the general compositions Mt Tpt
acdte)X-2 (Tptacdte = nyl-1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododeca-1,3,7,9-tetraen
e; X = Ci, Br, SCN for Ni(ll) and X = Cl, NO,, SCN for Co(II) and Co(T
ptacdte)SO4 .(H2O)(2) have been synthesized. The complexes have been c
haracterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductance mea
surements, magnetic susceptibility measurements, IR and electronic spe
ctral studies. The complexes were found to stabilize an octahedral geo
metry for the Ni(II) complexes and a distorted octahedral geometry for
the Co(II) complexes.
