Abstract
The synthesis of in situ formed TiC/Al composites utilizing the reacti on between molten aluminium and preforms consisting of unreacted Ti an d C powders was studied. The results show that the synthesizing temper ature has a great effect on the microstructure of the composites and a s long as it is chosen adequately, tailored TiC/Al composites can be p repared.
