Polycrystalline sample of LiNbMoO6 was prepared by high-temperature so
lid-state reaction technique. Preliminary X-ray diffraction (XRD) stud
ies of the compound suggest the formation of a single-phase compound w
ith orthorhombic structure. Detailed studies of dielectric constant (t
heta) and loss (tan delta) as a function of frequency (1 to 10 kHz) at
room temperature and also as a function of temperature (100 to 600 K)
at 10 kHz suggest that LiNbMoO6 has a dielectric anomaly at 369 K. Th
e electric field (1.3 to 8.0 kV/m) and temperature (room temperature t
o 600 K) variation of de resistivity (phi) show superionic behaviour o
f the compound at high temperature region.
