Abstract
A specific impurity emission caused by radiative recombination of vale nce electrons with the holes, originating from the highest-lying impur ity core states is studied in K1-xCsxCl mixed crystals. The emission e xcitation spectra show a clear anticorrelation with the reflection spe ctra of KCl in the region of 3p K-core excitons. We propose that the o bserved effect originates from reflection losses of the excitation ene rgy and/or luminescence quenching caused by formation of 3p K-core exc itons. The influence of Auger decay of the outermost core excitations is briefly discussed. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
