ATM-BASED LOCAL-AREA NETWORKS - THE COSY MIGRATION APPROACH

In this paper, we suggest a Migration Approach implementing a LAN base d on ATM which basically includes the installation of a hierarchically structured cabling system with a star configuration as well as the im plementation of the Cell Oriented SYstem COSY (therefore the name COSY Migration Approach). These COSY systems handle both cell-based and pa cket-based data traffic and thus allow the access not only to the swit ched public ATM networks but also to traditional shared-medium LANs.
