Abstract
An empirical method is proposed for the correction of spectral interfe rence between characteristic lines in XRF. The procedure is based on a coefficient which includes instrumental parameters and atomic propert ies and is obtained with the same standards as those used in calibrati on, This method has shown to be valid in the range of concentration st udied, The application of the method to the interference of Rb K beta( 1) on Y K alpha in silicate rocks is described, Experimental proof was demonstrated using Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) and samples a nalysed in other laboratories.
