Sk. Hu et Dc. Neckers, ALKYL PHENYLGLYOXYLATES AS RADICAL PHOTOINITIATORS CREATING NEGATIVE PHOTOIMAGES, Journal of materials chemistry, 7(9), 1997, pp. 1737-1740
Alkyl phenylglyoxylates are shown to be efficient photoinitiators for
acrylate polymerization. Benzoyl and phenyl radicals derived from inte
rmolecular hydrogen abstraction are the initiating species. A negative
photoimage system was developed based on this observation. The imagin
g material consists of a polymeric phenylglyoxylate initiator and to-b
e-crosslinked diacrylate monomers. The contrast and sensitivity of thi
s system have been measured.
