The Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS) is one of the most
widely used measures of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) symptoms (
W. K. Goodman et al., 1989). The purpose of this study was to examine
the dimensions underlying the Y-BOCS by performing a confirmatory fact
or analysis of the scale using responses from a large sample of patien
ts. The results support a 2-factor model of OCD symptoms. The first fa
ctor reflected the degree of disturbance caused by OCD symptoms, and t
he second factor reflected the severity of OCD symptoms.
