Abstract
The role of multimodality therapy in the treatment of oesophageal canc er has been extensively investigated in many longitudinal studies and randomized trials. Despite some promising results, no clear beneficial evidence has consistently been produced. At present it cannot be rout inely recommended outside the context of controlled clinical trials.
