A. Chen et al., SHORT-RANGE SOLVATION OF PROTON-TRANSFER COMPLEXES BY 2,2-DIMETHYL-1,3-DIOXANE AND TRIOXANE, Journal of molecular structure, 322, 1994, pp. 321-327
Bifurcated hydrogen bonds are involved in the short range solvation of
amines by electron donating solvents. Further, six-membered ring cycl
ic diethers involve interaction of both oxygens of the diether with th
e amine proton. We report the expansion of these results to include 2,
2-dimethyl-1,3-dioxane and trioxane. The results suggest that the latt
er is involved in a trifurcated hydrogen bond.
