R. Bratfalean et P. Ewart, SPECTRAL-LINE SHAPE OF NONRESONANT 4-WAVE-MIXING IN MARKOVIAN STOCHASTIC FIELDS, Physical review. A, 56(3), 1997, pp. 2267-2279
The spectral line shape of the four-wave mixing (FWM) signal, induced
by broad bandwidth laser fields, is derived in the case of a nonresona
nt interaction. The laser fields are assumed to have a Lorentzian spec
trum arising from Markovian stochastic fluctuations described by the p
hase-diffusion, chaotic field, and Gaussian-amplitude models. The usua
l ''phase conjugating'' geometry for FWM is considered where the nonre
sonant interaction is determined only by the statistics of, and the co
rrelations between, the pump and probe fields. For each one of the fou
r possible correlation states between the three input fields and for e
ach of the three fluctuating field models, the line shape of the FWM s
ignal is calculated and shown to be particularly sensitive to the fiel
d statistics.
