Nu. Perisicjanjic et al., A STUDY OF THE RETENTION BEHAVIOR OF SOME BENZIMIDAZOLE AND BENZTRIAZOLE DERIVATIVES ON CELLULOSE AND STARCH LAYERS, JPC. Journal of planar chromatography, modern TLC, 10(4), 1997, pp. 267-272
The retention behavior of two groups of benzimidazole and two groups o
f benztriazole derivatives (with amide or amino functional groups) has
been studied on rice starch and cellulose thin layers using water-met
hanol. (19 + 1-1 + 1) and water-lr-propanol (19 + 1-1 + 1) as mobile p
hases. Retention constants, R-M degrees, were determined by extrapolat
ion, and overlapping of the extrapolated R-M degrees values from two d
ifferent systems show that they are independent of the nature of the o
rganic modifier. For the series of compounds investigated very good co
rrelation was found between the intercepts and slopes of the TLC equat
ions and the retention constants, R-M degrees, the substituent paramet
er pi,and biological activity. Retention constants determined for rice
starch and cellulose RPTLC systems expressed the lipophilic character
of the molecules.
