Abstract
Some criteria to select acceptably good and rugged conditions when opt imising separations in High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) a re discussed and evaluated. These criteria take into account the separ ation between the least separated pair of peaks, and the ruggedness of the optimisation criterion around each possible optimum. It is also s hown that the optimal conditions selected by the criteria are also Par eto-optimal and in agreement with the ones selected when applying Derr inger's desirability function.
